It seems that an important percentage of the people going into a hospital get sooner or later a hospital acquired disease. The world health organization (WHO) has stated that although it is very difficult to eradicate all the disease sources, a huge improvement is expected simply by frequently washing hands and cleaning them with rinse-free disinfectant. However, there has been not a serious approach to track which healthcare workers have washed their hands and with which patients they had contact.
The project this week aims to implement in a hospital a radio frequency tag system to track the disinfectant usage and if statistically it has an effect on the affected patients.
Basically, this project aims to measure how important is this recommendation by the WHO and if more effort should be put into its compliance.
